Kelly Barnes, BFA, RMT
Hello and welcome to my site! My name is Kelly Barnes and I am a Body Positive, LGBTQ+ friendly Registered Massage Therapist located in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Having just spent the last 12 and a half years living in downtown Toronto, my partner and I have just relocated to Newfoundland to be closer to family, nature and build a life on the East Coast. While Toronto will always be my second home I was growing tired of the rat race, hustle and bustle and most of all the TTC! We are thrilled to be back on the island, however this Snowmageddon Winter has been a bit more of a welcome than we had anticipated!!
After graduating from Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting, I began my career in the arts and worked as an actress and a variety of other customer service and administrative jobs for 10 years before I made the decision to start a new path. While having a steady job with benefits, regular pay-cheques and paid holidays was a real thrill, I was still not truly fulfilled in my career. I eventually realized I wanted to pursue a career in another field I had been harbouring a love for... the world of health and wellness, a career where I could truly help people and put some good back into the world. Having personally experienced the benefits of Massage Therapy my search led me there and I haven’t looked back!
I graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy - Toronto campus in September 2016 as one of the top four academic students, receiving the Magna cum Laude distinction. I am in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador as well as a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Registered Massage Therapists Association. I had an amazing clientele while working as an RMT for the past three years in Toronto and I cannot wait to meet the lovely people of St. John’s as I begin my East Coast practice.
As a firm believer in overall wellness I feel strongly that Massage Therapy has major benefits for the body, mind and soul. I feel balance is key to every aspect of life and look forward to joining you on your journey to Newfoundwellness!
